Concept Explanation

Probability of An Event

Probability: It predicts the chance of occuring an event.The value lies between 0 and 1. If an event is sure to happen then the probability will be 1 and if an event is impossible to happen then the the probabity of occurance is 0..

small Probability = frac{No ;of; favourable; Outcomes}{Total; number; of; events}

Example 1: We have balls number 1 to 9. What is the probability of picking an even numbered ball.

Sol: Total number of possible outcomes= 9 as there are 9 balls.

Total Number of favourable cases = 2,4,6,8 Numberd ball is picked. Therefore the number of favourable  cases is 4

small P(Even; Numbered; ball) = frac{4}{9}
